The number one tip that I can give is to shop around. Just because you find an amazing apartment, doesn’t mean you should go for it. It is better to save a little money by finding somewhere cheaper. That way, you can spend the rest of your cash on food, drink, shopping and amazing experiences in Paris.

Look for a flat in the following places:

• Online

Letting websites show you a whole bunch of properties in different locations. You can even search for apartments in order of cheapest price first. If you find somewhere that could be right for you, request a viewing. While you want somewhere decent, it doesn’t have to be perfect and this is something to keep in mind.

• Through an agency

There are many throughout Paris that are professional and helpful. They will give you recommendations on flats in the area based on what you are looking for and will also take you around to see them.

• Facebook

People often advertise their flats on this social media platform because it means they don’t have to pay fees. Consider every option but remember that you might not have the same protection if you rent on Facebook, rather than through an agency.

• Word of mouth

Many people don’t advertise their flat right away in hopes of a friend being interested. If you know somebody is renting out a flat in Paris, you might be able to get a better deal on it.
