Halloween is right around the corner and Team Nounou is preparing for the fiendish festivities! In this month’s Activity booklet, we share some great DIY past times with our families. And because we don’t want you to miss out on the fun, we’re sharing them here too!

Creative pastimes at home are a great way to occupy the kids outside of television, and they’re also great for engaging and increasing important development skills. In fact, it’s as young as age 6 when our creative development peaks! Chocolate and candy aside, Halloween is a great opportunity to get artistic with children and let them inspire themselves making decorations.

At Be My Nounou, we keep it simple. You don’t need to go out and get 20 different supplies, most of our projects are made using simple household items, which you’d normally throw away!

Scary Spider

Step One

Cut out the bottom of the toilet roll into strips.

Step Two
Tuck every other strip inside the body of the toilet roll.

Step Three
Bend the ends of the legs for more stability.

Step Four
Add on eyes and a mouth.

Step Five
You can also draw the body of the spider or paint it different colours! Have fun!

Step One

Draw 2 wings on black card, making them nice and spiky!

Step Two

Cut out the wings.

Step Three

Paint the toilet roll with black paint, wait for half an hour or until dry. This is the body of your bat.

Step Four

Glue wings in the back of your bat (the toilet roll)

Step Five

Draw the eyes (or use stick-on googly eyes) and cut out little teeth with white paper. Put your fingers inside the roll to make a puppet!

Repeat until you have as many bats as you want!

Ghoulish Ghost

Step One

Outline your hands in pencil on sheets of paper.

Step Two
Cut out the drawings with scissors.

Step Three
Glue fingers of the hands together, to form a line.

Step Four
Stick on the googly eyes and draw a mouth.

Step Five
Continue as much as you like to create a “ghost frieze” or attach them for a ghost garland, as in the picture.
