checklist international student paris

1 – Administration

As a student make sure that you have your administration documents:

-ISIC the only international student card! It proofs your international student status. You have tons of discounts all over the world! The card cost 13 euros and it is available for any person in a full-time formation: high school, University, students school! Enjoy!

-Visa choose the right visa to work and study in France! Good news: if you are from EU you don’t need a visa!

-Don’t hesitate to call your school for help. They are used to it. You are probably not the only exchange students in University.

2 – Transportation

RATP: If you are under 26 years old and you are a student choose the Imagine R’ pass. You can travel all over Ile-de-France! It means that you can take the tramway, the bus, metro, RER and even the Transilien. The pass cost 350 euros a year! It is 50% cheaper than a classic Navigo pass.

-Velib: If you are more athletic or ecologically concerned use a bike! But don’t forget to put on a helmet 😉 Paris can be dangerous, especially with scooters. If you already have a Navigo Pass or a Imagine R pass subscribe online. It takes few seconds and it’s free. Every time you will take a bike you pay 1 euro (or 2 euros for an electric bike) and you can enjoy 30 minutes of cycling in the capital. There are velib’ stations everywhere in the Paris.

Look to our article about “how to find a cheap flat in Paris.”

Good to know: no one lives in a campus in France. You need to find a room or a flat (CROUS, student room, share house).
